NONA Winter Spritz
Karolien of Karola's Kitchen created this cocktail for the holidays.
Ingredients for 2 people:
200 ml cranberry juice
7 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
5 slices of ginger
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 orange (the peel)
60 ml NONA Spritz
200 ml ginger ale or ginger beer
sparkling water
2 sprigs of rosemary
ice cubes
Method:
Beforehand
Add the cranberry juice, cinnamon sticks, cloves and ginger slices to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, immediately turn off the heat and let cool. Pour the cranberry juice with all the flavorings into a container, add the lemon juice and refrigerate overnight (or 8 hours).
Wash an orange thoroughly. Using a peeler, cut two long strips (10 to 15 cm) of the orange peel. Wrap both ribbons around a wooden spoon (or another type of round stick, such as a wide bamboo straw.) Make sure they do not overlap. Place the orange ribbons like this in the freezer for at least 15 minutes (longer won't do any damage).
Serving
Fill two glasses with a few ice cubes. Pour 75 ml of the infused cranberry juice into each glass. Pour 30 ml of NONA Spritz (2 tbsp) into each glass. Remove the orange curls from the freezer and gently loosen them. Pour 100 ml of ginger ale into each glass and top up with some sparkling water if necessary. Finish with a sprig of rosemary, a cinnamon stick and an orange curl. Serve immediately!
